I am delighted to welcome you to our website and to introduce you to our school. Glenstal is a very special place, and I feel privileged to serve as Head of School.
At the heart of Glenstal is our community. As a Benedictine school, we want each boy to feel known, supported and encouraged to make the most of his talents. We place great importance on academic achievement, but also on helping our students to grow in confidence, develop their interests and become thoughtful, independent young men.
Life at Glenstal offers our boys many opportunities, both in and beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to take part fully in school life, whether through sport, music, the arts, activities or service to others. As a boarding and day school, we welcome students from across Ireland and from many different countries, and this mix of backgrounds and experiences adds greatly to our community.
Our setting is also an important part of life here. Glenstal Abbey is a beautiful and historic place in which to live and learn, but what makes the school distinctive is the people within it and the strong sense of community that exists between our students, staff, monks, parents and past students.
My focus as Head of School is always on our students and on ensuring that they have the opportunity to learn, to grow in confidence and to enjoy their time at Glenstal. We want them to leave us well prepared for the next stage of their lives, with strong friendships, a sense of who they are and an appreciation of the wider world around them.
I hope our website gives you a sense of life at Glenstal and of the opportunities available here. If you are considering Glenstal for your son, we would be delighted to welcome you to the school and to speak with you about what a Glenstal education might offer him.
