At Glenstal Abbey School, we strive to provide every student with a caring and stable environment, as he lives out his educational experience with us. Each boy is supported in his development towards his full potential, to the end that they all become independent young men. Knowing and being known by our students is at the heart of what we believe is necessary for them to truly thrive. Their entire experience is tempered by a sufficient level of structure so that ‘the strong may have something to strive after, and the weak may not fall back in dismay’ (Rule of St Benedict 64:19). For us, education is about the wholeperson and his experience: leading, being led, mutual enrichment, inspiring and being inspired.
Students are expected to involve themselves fully within the life of the school community, which is not a difficult task considering the variety of what is on offer. All students who attend Glenstal, whether day or full boarders, are members of our boarding houses. These are led by a dedicated housemaster team, who are educational professionals serving in loco parentis and playing a crucial role in the life of the students.
